Enlisted Promotion Test Compromise

Airmen must use a self-initiated program of individual study and effort under WAPS.

Hard Rule
Group study (two or more people) for the purposes of enlisted promotion testing is STRICTLY PROHIBITED.

This protects the integrity of the testing program — promotion test scores must reflect each member's individual knowledge.

Punishment

Violations are subject to prosecution under Article 92 of the UCMJ for violating a lawful general regulation.

Maximum Punishment
Conviction can result in:
  • Dishonorable discharge
  • Forfeiture of all pay and allowances
  • Confinement for up to two years

Reference: DAFMAN 36-2664.

What IS Permitted

Allowed
General military knowledge training does not constitute group study, as long as the intent is not to study for promotion tests.

Training to improve general study habits or test-taking skills is permissible if it does not focus on preparing for promotion tests.

Prohibited Activities

  • Discussing test content with anyone other than the test control officer or test examiner
  • Sharing pretests or lists of test questions recalled from current or previous tests
  • Sharing personal study materials, underlined or highlighted study references, or commercial study guides
  • Placing commercial study guide software on government computers
  • Creating, storing, or transferring personal study notes on government computers
Note
Government computers may only be used to view electronic versions of official study references.
