Enlisted-to-Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) Program

Program Overview

Enlisted-to-AFIT Purpose
The Enlisted-to-AFIT program is a unique element of enlisted force development that enhances the future Total Force.

What It Develops

In conjunction with other professional education and training programs, AFIT science, engineering, and management graduate degrees further:

  • Develop technical and managerial skills
  • Enhance combat capability through career field core competency augmentation
  • Provide the USAF with highly proficient NCOs

Program Length

Program Duration
Enlisted-to-AFIT degrees range from 18 to 24 months, depending upon a student's:
  • Undergraduate degree
  • Prerequisite course work

Degree Type and Location

AFIT Degrees Master's Only
Enlisted-to-AFIT is limited to master's degree programs offered at the resident campus, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.

Nomination Eligibility Requirements

AFIT Eligibility
To be nominated for this program, a member must be:
  • A RegAF Staff Sergeant (or Staff Sergeant-select) or above
  • Have a minimum of 5 years of Total Active Federal Military Service

Education Prerequisites

AFIT Education Prerequisites
The nominee must have completed:
  • A 7-skill level upgrade
  • A CCAF Associate of Applied Science degree
  • A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution
